FCAB’s unique development model relies on and facilitates working with partners on project design, implementation,
evaluation and upscaling. It actively seeks various types of partners to learn from and together enhance its existing work.
As an American non-profit, its stated mission is to partner American and Bangladeshi institutions and individuals to
enhance Bangladesh’s growth. These partnerships range from using American products and services to strengthen existing
services to co-creating new pilots.
RESEARCH
FCAB is a learning organization which welcomes opportunities to collaborate on research projects. It has worked with local
hospitals and American educational institutions on innovative public health research. FCAB is positioned to bridge
grassroots data and experience with academic and other policy theories to bring real-world, practical solutions to global
health and development problems. One of FCAB’s first activities was to conduct a comprehensive demographic survey of
every resident of its inaugural village before initiating any kind of intervention. This study was co-designed by the
University of Michigan School of Public Health and the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh’s premier institute of learning and
conducted by local partners. Its historical record allows a measurement of FCAB’s impact and helps identify areas of
necessary focus. Before undertaking any project, FCAB also researches the relevant need and selects the target population
based on this criteria. It also records lessons learned from each intervention to help improve its impact.
